There are four main stages of career building. These stages are loosely interwoven with the ongoing process of reassessment as we continue to receive new information and discover what excites us most and what works best for us. Self Discovery: Assessing your interests, skills, values, beliefs, personality and aptitude in order to discover who you are, what you do well, and your opportunities for improvement. Exploration: Investigating the many occupational possibilities and identifying those that are most interesting to you. Goal Setting: Identifying career goals and the small steps, which will lead towards the attainment of these goals. Educational upgrading ensures that your skills are current and may provide you with an additional edge in the current career market. Action Planning: Putting your ideas and goals into action. Utilize your skills and insight to ensure efficient and focused career direction and selection. The world of work is constantly changing. It is essential that we update our skills, reassess ourselves and continue to explore the ever-changing work options that are available. Goal setting and action planning initiatives ensure that we remain focused on our goals and provide ourselves with the opportunity to be successful. In putting the pieces together we direct our journey towards informed and meaningful career choices.
